ME 200 Thermodynamics included over 109 undergrad students of sophomores and freshmen at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The course curriculum is designed to facilitate the students with the materials required to learn the fundamental laws of thermodynamics and the limitations of energy conversion and generation devices. The principles are applied in thermodynamic analyses directed towards understanding the performances of engineering systems. Students worked in neighborhoods and presented their posters over 20 different topics.
Senior and master students had hands-On experience in measuring velocity profile of laminar and turbulent flat-plate boundary layer in a wind tunnel using Hot Wire Anemometry. Furthermore, students evaluated experimental Reynolds number at a fixed distance from the leading edge and evaluated the skin friction coefficient for both laminar and turbulent boundary layers.

Grad students analyzed and estimated flow rate of steady and pulsed jet using state-of-art flow measuring technique, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) through LED based Educational PIV developed by Dantec Dynamics. Students analyzed the PIV images using Open-PIV MATLAB software.
